माता वैष्णो देवी Vaishno Devi

माता वैष्णो देवी (Vaishno Devi) is situated in कटरा (Katra). The destans of Jammu to Katra is 61 Kms. The shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi is located in a cave, amidst the folds of the Trikuta Bhagwati hill at a height of 5, 300 ft., in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The actual shrine is situated 13km from the foot hills and can be reached by trek.

From जम्मू (Jammu) to कटरा (Katra) is a distance of 61Kms. Most of the distance is covered on National Highway 1A and a part of the distance (15 Kms) is over a secondary road which is maintained by Border Roads Organization. Taxis are available at जम्मू एअरपोर्ट and जम्मू रेलवे स्टेशन for carrying the pilgrims to कटरा (Katra). The Jammu and Kashmir State Roadways Transport Corporation operates a large number of buses at regular intervals From Jammu railway station to Katra. Private deluxe buses also operate between Jammu railway station and Katra. Besides these, there is also a regular bus service between Jammu and Katra from the General Bus stand at Jammu. Buses leave for Katra after every fifteen minutes From the General Bus stand. The bus service commences at 6 AM and concludes at 8 PM everyday.

Many superfast trains also ply on this route and one can reach जम्मू (Jammu) overnight from New Delhi.

कटरा (Katra) Town, lying In the foot of Trikuta Mountains, 48 kms. from Jammu, serves as the base camp for visiting the famous shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, which is approachable on foot along a 13 kms long well laid footpath. Every year, more than 4.5 million pilgrims pass through Katra on their way to the holy shrine.
